Tanóok is a leader who is comfortable contributing and collaborating within major social justice-focused initiatives. They have a history of effectively leading constructive-organizational growth. Tanóok has experience in the following; teaching, community organizing throughout the country, social justice-based research and data analysis, social justice writing and illustration.


Tanóok has self-published social justice writing and multidisciplinary art. Tanóok is enrolled in the Tlingit tribe of Southeast Alaska. She has completed Tlingit language and Formline design art courses with the University of Alaska-Southeast.


Tanóok graduated from Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado in 2020, with a BA in Criminology. In Durango, Tanóok was an intern at the Colorado 6th Judicial District Attorney’s office, a grassroots community organizer, and a volunteer DJ at KDUR Community Radio.


In 2021, Tanóok completed an Art Resistance Internship with the LYRIC Center for LGBTQ+ Youth in San Francisco.


Tanóok was a guest lecturer for Cross Cultural Philanthropy at the University of California at Berkeley Haas School of Business.


Tanóok has teaching experience in rural Colorado, east Oakland in California, and Santa Barbara County in California. Tanóok presented for Sealaska Heritage Institute (SHI) at the Culturally Responsive Literacy Education (CRE) Conference in February of 2022 and June of 2023.


In 2024, Tanóok was an opening and closing speaker for Fort Lewis College’s Black History Month events; opening with Professor Kate Smith at the Kick-Off Celebration and closing with an independent presentation called ‘Black Liberation and Queer Liberation: The Importance of Vulnerability within Building Consciousness and Awareness of Institutional and Systemic Violence’ at the Gender and Sexuality Resource Center.


Tanóok is a leader who continues to contribute to initiatives focused on empowering and liberating communities. She is continuously seeking opportunities to contribute to social justice organizing and project management related to prison abolition, education reform, transformative justice, land sovereignty, and environmental justice.
